Christ Community Church

Houston, Texas

Christ Community Church, a church plant of 200-300 people, were meeting in a hotel  and had purchased some property in West Houston in the hopes to renovate it into their new church. One of the challenges was to get the one story space to not feel cramped and stuffy.  The design solution opened the ceilings up in the entry/fellowship hall and worship center, painted them black and pulled the lights up creating a sense of a more vertical space.  Large glass sliding doors off the entry/fellowship hall allow for multi-purpose use. The glass doors slide open and stack inside a pocket wall allowing the room to expand for large events. Ceiling fur downs are painted a dusty green and add a pop of color to the overall neutral pallet. A reclaimed wood wall serves as a feature element through the lobby, and main worship area.  The use of chairs in the worship area allow for flexibility and can be stowed away backstage in a storage area. Two large flat screens flank the stage allowing for optimal viewing and message display. Thirteen classrooms make up a large majority of the space and provide for education spaces for children and adults, with 4 of the rooms designed specifically for early childhood. Administration and offices are also included. This project was completed as a Design/Build with Brookstone Construction.
