Fertitta Tactical Training Center

Houston, TX

Constructed to simulate an entire village under a single roof, the interior of the 44,000 s.f. hangar-like structural steel building has four separate quadrants, including typical types of buildings encountered in any urban setting, set around a street intersection, as well as administrative offices. The Center is the latest tool in HPD’s training arsenal and revolutionizes training to better equip officers to respond to the modern challenges of public safety.

Providing officers from multiple agencies realistic crime-fighting settings, the building is utilized to practice maneuvers which require durable construction and finishes to accommodate heavy tactical vehicles entering and exiting the site and driving through the building.

Ziegler Cooper was honored to work with the Houston Police Department and the Houston Police Foundation to design the building, which “Ensures a Safer Tomorrow for our City and our Citizens,” according to the HPF.
