New Training Center for Lloyd’s Register Group Plays a Central Role in Business Performance
To succeed in our world of rapid change, organizations need to be more flexible, fast moving and fast learning. Training plays a critical role in giving their workforce the skills they need to benefit business performance. Following Lloyd’s Register’s successful training efforts in the Americas, Ziegler Cooper was contacted to develop a design for their new 24,289 sf Training Center located in the Energy Corridor of Houston, Texas.
“The new training facility is state-of-the-art and will allow Lloyd’s Register to provide a variety of training to our clients and employees in various subject matters with a special focus on the Energy business,” says Peter Kershaw, Americas Training Manager for Lloyd’s Register Energy – Drilling.
The design concept features a large, open breakout space for up to 84 trainees flanked by four large training rooms to the east and four smaller conference rooms to the west. The four large training room’s seat 32 trainees in a class room setting or 80 in a conference layout, with folding partitions that open up to create one large room for up to 320 in a conference setting. Eight open offices and one private office are included for instructors and on-site staff of Lloyd’s Register’s Energy – an additional 10,000 sq/ft open workshop is incorporated into the facility for hands on workshops: Drilling training courses are continually updated to ensure that the latest technological developments and standards pertaining to the drilling industry are incorporated. The Training Center provides a wide variety of training opportunities to support, maintain and enhance competencies and skills in the various sectors in which Lloyd’s Register competes.
