The John Cooper School
The Woodlands, TX
The ROCK Math + Science Center new facility is a gateway to the southern part of the campus. The building houses math, science, and technology learning centers and is designed for interdisciplinary learning throughout. Each room is designed to be dual functioning, both to facilitate laboratory opportunities and classroom needs. An interactive vertical space within the forum allows for idea testing and experimentation to occur, in full sight of all who move through the space. A Roof Garden assists in the learning/teaching environments for the Middle School science and Upper School biology classes.
The building includes a 135-seat lecture hall, writable walls in classrooms and hallways, a 40-station computer lab, a robotics lab with competition-sized pit-challenge area, and mathematical equations and methods of measurement embedded into stairwells and floors. Equipment for all disciplines is state-of-the-art.
