Senior Commercial Interior Designer
Ziegler Cooper, an architecture, and interior design firm, is seeking a highly experienced and licensed Commercial Interior Designer-Architect with over ten years of professional practice expertise, coupled with a proven track record in business development. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of creative design skills, technical proficiency, and a strategic mindset to lead and execute commercial interior design projects while also driving business growth for the firm. This position is full-time and on-site at our Houston office.
Responsibilities:
Lead and manage all phases of commercial interior design projects from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to client requirements, budget, and timelines.
Utilize advanced design principles and methodologies to develop innovative and functional interior spaces that align with client objectives and brand identity.
Provide leadership and mentorship to junior design staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
Conduct client meetings, and presentations to gather project requirements, communicate design concepts, and obtain approvals.
Oversee the preparation of design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and material selections, in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Collaborate closely with project stakeholders, including architects, engineers, contractors, and vendors, to coordinate project deliverables and ensure seamless execution.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of business development strategies and actively identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the firm's client base.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing clients, architects, developers, and industry partners to generate repeat business and referrals.
Develop and implement strategic marketing initiatives, including presentations, proposals, and promotional materials, to showcase the firm's capabilities and attract potential clients.
Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in commercial interior design and architecture, and integrate relevant insights into project designs and business strategies.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in interior design or architecture.
Professional licensure as an Interior Designer and/or Architect.
Minimum of ten years of progressive experience in commercial interior design, with a strong portfolio demonstrating successful project delivery across various sectors (e.g., corporate offices, hospitality, retail).
Proven expertise in business development, including prospecting, client relationship management, and proposal writing.
Exceptional design skills, with a keen eye for detail, spatial planning, and aesthetic composition.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and other relevant design software.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts persuasively to diverse stakeholders.
Strong leadership abilities, with experience in mentoring and developing junior design team members.
Demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Flexibility to travel occasionally for client meetings, site visits, and industry events.
