Christ Church

The Woodlands, TX

Christ Church is a well-established church in The Woodlands, Texas. An initial 40,000 square foot addition included a Worship Center, Commons, and Children’s and Adult Education Spaces. In 2011, a discussion began regarding the placement and design of a columbarium as a part of a sacred garden space. The garden was sited in a wooded area immediately adjacent to the sanctuary. Four significant sanctuary windows, originally placed to allow worshipers to be a part of God’s creation, offer glimpses into the garden. The siting of the garden allows for an intentionally secondary path of discovery to the garden. Architecturally, the materials chosen to develop the garden were drawn from the palette used in the rest of the campus and the sanctuary specifically.
