The Resurrection Window | Art in Architecture
The Resurrection window that adorns the front wall of the Co-Cathedral depicts Christ rising over the city of Houston. The heart of Christ reaches out in love and protection to the city inviting all to come to him. This window fashioned of opalescent and hand-blown glass reinforces the mystery of the Resurrection which transforms all of human history. The Resurrection window stands 40 feet high and 20 feet wide. Original drawings for the window were made by Romano Cosci, the only living artist whose work is displayed in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. The window was executed by Mellini Art Glass and Mosaics, Florence, Italy.
Upon entering the Cathedral, time is left outside. For it is here, in this sacred place that universal and eternal faith live, long surpassing any boundary or measure of time.
